M1A - Trijicon vs Leopold
I thought I would get some opinions from people.. I am finally buying a Springfield M1A.... I'm thinking the 18" scout model (instead of the 22" or 16" models) I am trying to decided on the scope, granted I know that is going to be some $$$ and I am thinking Leopold or Trijicon.
I know Leopold is the one that people like and is a no brainer...always a safe bet; I was interested in peoples thoughts of the Trijicon AccuPoint line as an alternative. I have always loved my ACOGs on my ARs and I was thinking I could save a few hundred and go Trijicon and not sacrifice quality... THOUGHTS??? Trijiconmodel... I'm looking at (TR20-2) http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...int&mid=3-9x40 VS Leopold: http://www.leupold.com/tactical/scop...t-riflescopes/

Trijicon makes great optics without a doubt however I would go with the Leupold Mk 4 for the rifle you mentioned over the AccuPoint. If you want the best bang for your $ I strongly suggest you look into Vortex optics - their Viper PST is amazing. Some research over the internet will do you a world of good before you buy.
The Scout Squad is a great choice for an M1A if you dont want the full sized version. I run a Nightforce F1 on an MCS SASS stock for my scout squad setup |

IHMO.. of the two the AccuPoint is much clearer class, however the eye box is tight.
Personally I only shoot FFP scopes. I follow advice from http://opticsthoughts.com/?page_id=623 |

I'm considering the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP for my NM EBR

I put a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 on an AR build. Good scope for the money.

If you go with a Trijicon, you are right to choose the crosshair reticle. I have the TR20 post style Accupoint mounted on my Scout. I really like it for the ranges I shoot(generally under 200m) but for longer ranges, the obelisk makes it difficult to hold-over to compensate for bullet drop at longer ranges.
I think Trijicon has better glass than Leopold, but the eye relief is a bit tighter.

I went with a Night Force 2.5-10 on mine... The glass is very clear, I was surprised that I could see the holes at 200 yards.

VERY nice scope setup SailSkiDrive. I'm a ARMS18 fan too. My NF 3.5-15 is way to big to fit the ARMS and look right so I keep it on my FNAR. You are right about being clear tho... Awesome glass!!
My other scopes have tended to Leupolds cause for the money, they are hard to beat when you compare. |

I always go Leupold and have never been disappointed. Their custom shop is really nice, and makes for a nice lifelong scope.
