12 gauge

I've been surfing on globalsecurity.org and the they write that the 12 gauge shells have rubber ball.
Are there metal balls or 12 gauge is just rubber?
thanks

There are "less lethal" shells available for 12ga that have rubber shot in them, whether these are rubber coated steel or pure rubber I don't know. The purpose behind them is for use in cases where one might not wish to kill or severely injure those who might be just behind the target, as they lose force more quickly than standard buckshot. These are still quite lethal at short ranges, however.

I mean what law enforcement and military use. Are those shells lethal?
With thos shotguns people can shot just like with other weapons, right?

Yeah, military mp's use them sometimes, I think. Cops also. They are lethal up close. The standard buckshot is lethal for greater distances. That's why the rubber shot is called *less* lethal, *not* nonlethal. The less lethal rounds are what might be used during riot control duty, or to scare off a large animal. They can still kill you if you get shot with one from close enough range.
