Do we need a backup plan for semi-auto rifles?

First off I feel we need to fight as hard as we can on every level and never give up our 2nd Amendment rights!

If by some strange cosmic force the dictator wins do we need a backup plan for semi-automatic rifles? What I'm thinking is something along the Remington 750 line. I am currently looking at getting one in 30-06 and was wishing there was an option for 5.56, 300aac, 6.8 SPC, etc..

How many would be interested in a .38/.357 or .44 spl / .44 mag version of an 1100 or 870? Tube fed fixed magazine that could be easily reloaded (tactical reloads) on the go. Yes there are currently lever action (30-30) options but a pump or auto would be great to have. I kick myself in the ass for not buying the Israeli pump in .357 years ago for $200 as I thought it was too expensive.

I have no intentions of getting rid of my AR but like to have a backup plan. If there is such an interest what would need to be done to get Remington or Mossberg interested?

I always thought a reliable and well made .38/.357 lever action would make an excellent home defense carbine.

The only problem is that good ones are hard to find.

A 30/30 is fairly close, ballistic wise to the AK's 7.62x39. That would be a good second choice.

Another good option is an Enfield Carbine. The No.5 or a No.4 modified to a carbine. The cock on closing action is quick and smooth. Good peep sights, 10 round magazine. Quick loading with stripper clips. .303 ammo is not to common though, although it's a great round.

I have a great 30-30 and am looking to purchase a lever in. 357. But I am also thinking of semi auto options. I would love to have a .357 based bottom loading tube fed semi auto. As I stated I think a Remington 750 in 223 would be great.

At this point, I own more lever actions and revolvers than semi-autos....

Then again, I'm in MA, so my perspective may be a bit skewed

I have a Remington 7615 that is chambered for .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO and uses AR15 magazines. Great gun but is a pain to clean!

The pump action is based on the Remington 870 and was designed for Police Departments that use the Remington 870 shotgun to transition to carbines will little training.

Why change what you got? If congress passes anything, it's time to take to the streets to peaceably protest. States that allow open carry should have large gatherings of people openly carrying. The cops/feds would do nothing about it.
Would you want to be ordered to break up that group?

There's lots of earlier Remington 740 through 7400s semi autos around on the cheap, and after market 10 rd mags for them.
They might make a good choice, just in case, without breaking the bank.

I will be keeping all the semi auto rifles I currently own regardless. No backup plan needed for me.
