30-30 problems

I am not a green re-loader by any stretch, but I have nearly hit my wits end on this one! My bullets are loose and I can't seem to figure out why.
Honaday Pro-jector progressive loader, RCBS FL 2-die set, used and new brass various h-stamps, all cleaned, trimed, de-burred, ect. I've adjusted the de-cap so many times even so far as to shear the drive pin off the bottom. I've tryed the seater/crimper up down in between crushed shells and the like still no soap! Horaday rnsp and speer fnsp bullets any help would be great! I have loaded many bottle necker but never this much trouble, beside the fact that one can never have to much info, i'm always willing to learn some new tricks! Very Perplexed!

Mike your expander ball. It should be below bullet diameter.

I'm not familiar with the Pro-jector press, but I use the RCBS 2-die set just fine in my single stage for the 30-30. Never had a neck tension problem.

Are you screwing the sizing die down all the way to touch the shell holder in the raised ram and then plus 1/8 turn to take out the slack in the press?

Make sure your decapper/expander is raised high enough so as to not bottom out on the base of the case so as to keep your case from going all the way into the die.

You should not be able to see any gap between the shell holder and the bottom of the die when the ram is all the way up with a case in the shell holder.

Lastly, not to be wise ass, but be sure you are using a 30-30 sizing die.

Yes that was the last thing I tryed was screwing it all the way down, not only did I snap the shear pin off, it crushed the case down and in so far, that if I would have had the expander in I really think I'd have snapped it off trying to remove it. Even with a slight amount down on the neck sizer it crushes the neck so far that the expander just about won't come out. Also the crimper seems like it isn't far enough down to properly do the job, but it is on the sheel plate and cannot go any farther. A slight crimp just seems too slight. Your right to ask, I have many sets as I'm sure you do (it is the 30-30 set)

That's different. Usually it's too much lube. Glad you got it sorted out.
