Taurus Tracker Question

Does the Tracker 627 .357mag use the same frame as the Taurus model 66? They look very close to the same. The reason I am even having to ask is because Taurus states that the 627 weighs only 28.8 oz versus the 38 oz of the model 66. Is there an alloy difference in the metalurgy?

I can't answer your question however, if it was me I'd call Taurus and ask them.

They do not. The Mdl 66 is a "Medium" frame revolver. The Tracker™ series are "Compact" frame revolvers. Taurus® revolver frame sizes, from smallest to largest: are..........
• Small - like models 85, 94, 605
• Compact - like Trackers, 405, 445, 617, 817
• Medium - like models 65, 66, 82,
• Large - like model 44, 416, 444, 454

While the Taurus® website says the 627 357 Mag weighs 28.8 oz it's a typo. The 2¼" barrel 617 357 Mag weighs 28.8 oz but the 4" 627 Tracker™ weighs about 33-34oz.
