Primers, easier to get?
Are primers in your area still scare or getting easier to get? Are the prices staying stable (that is, high) or are they dropping? Do tell.....

Didn't vote I never had trouble finding them, now if you'd asked to vote about price...

'Round here, they are getting to be almost as common as they used to be, but the prices aren't coming down worth a whit.

For awhile there every dealer I went to had bare shelves. Now, they're semi-full but nowhere near the selection they once had.
The Sportsman's Warehouse and Gander Mtn. near me seems to have an overabundance of Winchester primers in all sizes with only a few boxes of Remington and CCI. No Federal primers to speak of except those for shotguns. Before they had all brands, all sizes, including the CCI mil-spec primers. I long for those days. I should have stocked up more. As for prices. They went up but IIRC, a box of 1,000 was about $30 before, now the last time i looked, its $35. Not that bad IMO. |

It seems that about two months ago, all the store shelves around here went from being bare to having components stacking up. Not sure what happened, but it seems like everybody stopped buying at the same time as the manufacturers caught up with demand.

tons available, but around 25% more expensive, and that price has been holding for a while.

Lots available around here now, and the prices don't seem that high to me since I just started reloading about nine months ago and never knew a time when primers weren't $30+ per thousand.

The situation was improving but it almost seems to be getting worse again. I've had trouble finding a local place with stock recently and the price..... well, $28 for 300 CCI BR.

Yea what everybody said
More available for mucho money.
I started during the crunch though, so the more money is only theoretical and seems like diddly when you're talking the cost per/primer and the relative costs per round otherwise. |

Here in West Central Missouri I can find them just about where-ever they used to be. Prices are $29.00 - $32.00 per thousand.
Far better than the $60.00 + some people where getting before. I do not know what gun shows in this area are getting for them, as I have not been to one in several months.

Primers, easier to get?
There are few options locally (Gander Mountain & Fort Thompson), what is available is $40 per 1K for standard primers, $50 per 1K for match! FWIW I've picked up primers and powder in Oklahoma City, Ashland, Ohio, and Trinidad, Colorado while vacationing, primers were more plentiful and cheaper ($5-$10 per 1K) ( powder was $2-$4 per pound cheaper also). Demand for reloading components has never been higher than what we are experiencing at the present, I expect availability to continue to improve but prices to remain at the present level! William

Just got 5000 Fed large pistol primers for 134.95. Which is about 50 dollars less than 6 months ago. Local gun store "West Coast Armory" has a good supply.

Very few in my little corner of the world - occasionally I see small rifle and small pistol primers, but large rifle and large pistol still seem to be rare as hens' teeth. It's online ordering for me.

A Cabela's two hours away now has every primer size by most manufacturers, when six months ago the shelves were bare. The prices were $30-35/k.

Recently purchased localy 1000 CCI for $29+ tax. I know that isn't cheap but, much improved from a year ago.
BTW, my local supplier has prices all the same no matter the type of primer.

CCI's in all flavors are easy to get at the local shop, Most every other brand can be found with a little hunting around...... Prices are reasonable $30-$35/k
They maybe very plentiful in some shops by now,,,,,,,, but a few shops pretty much lost my business when they were asking $80/k and complaining about their distributor asking so much.....(that particular distributor happens to be family and a price check is just a speed dial away)

I just came back from a gun show. Small pistol primers are about the same they were last year. $35 per 1000. Powder and cast bullets went up and stayed there too.

I just got CCI small magnum rifle primers delivered to my front door from Powder Valley.
I have been waiting for over a year and a half for those to become available. |
