You decide if this an arm chair opinion. I researched the 30 AR and decided it was not enough better than the 7.62x39 to justify the expense of a new upper. If I didn't already have a 7.62, the 30 AR would be a significant addition to my AR stable.

I'm with Mobuck...
7.62x39 upper solves all of my hunting needs up to 200 meters. 6.8 would work to 400 6.5 beyond that. I hunt dark timber, so.... 7.62AK was the correct answer. |

.30 AR
I was just wondering about the the ballistics and how well the .30 AR preforms out in the field. If Remington's claim of 2800 FPS is a realistic claim or a pipe-dream. If the 350 to 400 FPS over the 7.62X39 MM is realistic claim then this is something to be considered. Or is it just hype and the 2800 FPS is just a advertisment ploy.
Remington has modified the upper receiver to make the .30AR work in the AR-15 platform. So the question is "does the R-15 in .30 AR Remington work and function reliably in the R-15 Rifle (AR-15 PLATFORM)???" And finally, I was trying to find someone who has accually used the the .30 AR and the R-15 to harvest game in the field, and get thier opinion of the rifle/caliber combination. I hope this clarifies what information that I need V/R J. Budd Last edited by budd; October 6, 2011 at 09:11 AM. |
