7-08 and the 162 AMAX...

Getting ready to start some load workup for the new stick.

For those of you that use this setup for long range, is there anything out of the ordinary that seems to work best for you when it comes to jump, or is the "usual" .02 off the lands about right?

Do VLD's such as this sometimes perform better when seated to touch the rifling with no jump?

Hoping to get about 2650 (with H4350) out of the 26" barrel. Sound about right?

I don't load 162 grn A-Max. I do load 150grn Nosler BTs over 45.5grns of H4350 for a consistant 2700fps from my 26" 700 SPS Varmint rig. I'm about 0.01" off the lands with the load. I had to replace the mag box in the rifle with a Wyatt Extended Box in order to get the rounds to seat in the rifle for hunting purposes.

Same load I used in the factory barrel with the 150 SMK. Cloverleafs at 100...and very accurate at 600.
Went with a faster twist varmint barrel to push these high BC suckers, guess I'll play and see how it goes.
