New to me - Police Trade 681
Picked up a Police Trade 681. Overall is in good shape, barrel is fine, lockup is great. It does have some scratches and the grips are worn.
Any recommendations on cleaning up the scratches or the grips. Should I leave it as is? Hoping to get some range time this weekend. Thanks |

First thing I would do is wipe it down with a led away cloth. No matter how clean it looks, you will be surprised how much gunk will come off. Then try polishing with Mothers Mag polish.
As for the grips L would start by scrubbing with Murphy's oil soap and a soft tooth brush, then a coat of Johnson's and Johnson's paste wax buffed in well. |

+1 on Old Bear's recommendations: You'll be surprised at how Mother's Mag will clean up some of the surface scratches especially. Congrats on your newest purchase. I've got an old 686 that I've had for years, and it remains one of my favorite handguns to this very day. It's accurate, durable, and overall a real joy to shoot.

Mother's mag or flitz. Congrats on the score; I almost bought one, but have spent all my gun money for the year.
