90 Grain Hornandy XTP in 9mm?

Hi all! This is my first post here and I am looking for some info. I am just getting back into reloading after a long layoff (15+ years). I picked up some 90 grain Hornandy XTP bullets for both my 380 Auto and 9mm. I say both as I mistakenly thought that there would be data for this round for both.

I am using Accurate #5. I have the data needed for the 380 but am having issues finding some for the 9mm? I know that the 115gr is the normal starting weight for 9mm but I would think someone has tried the 90's with some success?

Thanks for any info!

Good data here but as always start at the minimums and work your load up

9mm Load

Lyman # 49 has the 90 grain Sierra JHP listed with AA#5

Starting load 5.2 @ 835 fps 16,600 cup Max 6.5 @ 1347 fps 30,800 cup

4" barrel

Loaded at 1.010 OAL

We tried this in my sons Sig 229 and it did not feed well needs to be a tad longer.

They also showed Bullseye as the most accurate at max load of 5.2 with a staring load of 4.1

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

I use those same bullets in my .380 loads. They work very well indeed. With 4.2 grains of Unique I averaged 946.6 FPS, 4.4 gave me 960 FPS. The 4.4 loads were a little too hot with guppy cases and some fireball as well. I have backed down to 4.2 grains as my loading. Ruger LCP.
