Good price? 870P

Checked with a local dealer who is also on the internet and he quoted me an 870P (I think it's 7+1) 18 bbl, bead sight for $310.00. I'll be using it for hd. What do you think?

Better than what I paid: $449 for an 18" Police Mag with rifle sights and a standard, 4 round mag. The price you quoted is about what an express HD gun goes for around here (Central Florida). I'd jump on it. Perhaps you should also check around your local area to see if its a good price as gun prices tend to vary from play to place.

Good luck.

I can't believe it, but you're right. He quoted me for an Express Magnum (which is also advertised as a "Security"). That was the first model I was looking at (local Big 5). I should have known. He should have known. I'll keep trying.

How about an 870 Police Magnum trade-in for $275 shipped?:

Some finish wear but excellent internally.

Found an FFL/dealer that ordered me one from a wholesaler listed in the Remington LE site. Around $530 and change (including bg check, shipping, FFL transfer, state tax (18" bbl, 2 shot ext., bead sight)).

Question, can someone steer me to the thread about cleaning a new sg? I found this thread for disassembly. One of the gun shop guys said all you need is a pen to get the trigger assembly pins out.

What other cleaning gear would I need? I've got a few handguns so I have breakfree, gunsrubber, fp-10, and got some rem oil and choke cleaner.

Just learned how myself, as my 870P is about 3 weeks old. Owners' manual is best.

Don't forget to clean the mag tube first time around.

Good luck
