It's been a long time since I've seen the movie but I think she is carrying a Walker revolver in there. John Wayne, as I remember, incorrectly referred to the pistol as a Colt's Dragoon outside of the courthouse in the opening scenes, and that's why I remember, it wasn't a Dragoon. The Dragoons all have catches for the loading lever and they had a different style grip. You shouldn't have any problems obtaining a reproduction Walker. Uberti makes some really nice ones and the Colt's aren't that bad either, though my dad bought one from Colt a few years back that had really awful polishing on it, all the corners were badly rounded over.

I know that technically it is not correct, but the Colt Walker is also sometimes called a Colt-Walker Dragoon Pistol since they were issued to the US First Mounted Rifles, aka Dragoons.
The pistol used in the movie was a Colt Walker. Doc Hudson |
