tanker holster
hey everyone,
in '04 i was a Marine in Iraq. i remember seeing a lot of officers and snco's wearing tanker holsters made of black nylon (my Gunny wore a standard leather one). these holsters were different from the standard issue leather holsters; they had a magazine pouch on the holster and were made of nylon. it didn't look expensive or high-speed-low-drag. actually, it looked plain and kind of cheap. i want one. does anyone know what i'm talking about? who makes them and where can i find one? any help will be appreciated. thanks, bnf |

thanks Deth Lives, but no.
those are leather. the type i saw were made of nylon or some other synthetic material. the holster itself was rectangular and included a pouch for one additional magazine. the straps were also nylon with the same securing format as the leather one; one strap over the left shoulder and one strap that wraps across the chest, under the right arm then across the back connecting to the shoulder strap (just like the M7 design). are there any former Marines here with time in the sandbox? think M7, just nylon. |

After I had an HG fall out of a Blackhawk rig years ago ( different rig, it was a low ride leg holster) I would not trust a generic nylon on size fits all holster ever again.
Get something specific to your gun, make it yourself if need be ( likely won't have to)...what looks cool usually stinks to high 'ell. |

I thought you were talking about one like this. Its been around a long time, I carried it when I was in the NG, because I didnt want to fool with the armor.
Also since I was LE at the time, I carried it loaded since we were required to off duty. No one ever knew, Its my 1911a1. Its what you call CC in plain sight.

Had the same thing with an Uncle Mikes. Right straight down to the concrete
If you buy one get one for the exact gun you carry and then watch out!! Thank God no one saw it happen but me but that was enough. I should have put a bag over my face. |
