Traditions new SAA clone
I was most familiar with Traditions as an importer of muzzloaders and of cap and ball revolvers, but Traditions has begun importing a replica of Colt's Single Action Army revolver. But this is a replica with a twist.
Traditions' SAA is equipped with a Ruger style, transfer bar safety. This feature will allow you to load all six chambers and safely carry the gun. Personally I feel fine with the traditional approach of only loading five chambers, but others may feel differently. Either way it is a nice SAA clone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vox0S7ljUcQ |

Good video
I have a Geroco from the seventies which is a transfer bar revolver. All of my Uberti's have firing pins.
Because of the way I shoot, it does not make much of a difference. I do acknowledge he safety in loading only five. Can you tell us what ammunition you were using in the Pietta?

I was shooting my black powder handloads...a 255-grain PRS big lube bullet over 33 grains of Goex 2Fg powder.

How does the Traditions (Pietta) transfer bar system compare to the Beretta (Uberti) setup?

It is probably exactly the same. My understanding is that Berreta, Taurus, Weirauch and Pietta all license the transfer bar patent from Ruger.

Not a Single Action Army replica. More like a Vaquero clone. SSA has no transfer bar and the pin is on the hammer.

Pete,
I'll have to disagree. Put a Vaquero and a real Colt SAA side by side and you'll see the Vaquero looks much different from the Colt. And the Ruger lock work is completely different. The Traditions gun looks like a Colt and the internals are exactly like a Colt with the exception of the Transfer bar/firing pin. In fact about 70% of the Tradition's parts will work on a Colt SAA...0% of a Vaquero's parts will interchange with a Colt SAA |
