Barnes load data needed
If you have the Barnes loading manual, could you pass on some info?
I have the Barnes TSX 62 gr in .223 Remington and I was wondering if they have load data using H335 powder?

Im aware of what they have on their site, but I'm sure it's not complete data. They only list two powders.

try accurate powders guide
They tested many copper bullets, but you will need to use their powders. It is a free download

mohr308, try emailing Barnes (link is on their website) and request the information. I did a while back for 7mm Rem Mag and they sent me their entire tables for that cartridge.

+1 ^^^^
I have used load data for heavier bullets when do load testing with Barnes. Since they are longer bullets and end up seating deeper into the case, that is why I use the heavier data. I also do so carefully and generally didn't "hotrod" any of them. |

Barnes Manual #4
Does NOT have data for H335 powder with any of their bullets in the .223 cartridge. They only have Varget, H4895, TAC, BL-C(2), RL-15 and XMR-2015

If your stuck on using H335 (great powder btw) email first. If they can't help you, find a manual that has a bullet shaped like it that uses h335, and work up from start to max.

Im not really stuck on it, just want to experiment. They do have load data for the 55 grain tsx using H335 (on the website). I thought about using that info and creating my own starting point, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

My results
For the .223, My book listed RL15 23.5 min.- 25.5 max at 3066 fps. Using a 24" 1:12 at 2.25 COAL
However online, the 5.56 load lists RL15 25.2 min. 27.2 max at 3019 fps using a 20" 1:7 at 2.24 COAL http://www.barnesbullets.com/wp-cont.../5.56-Nato.pdf I loaded RL15, and used a 5.56 nato 16" 1:7 at 2.26 COAL for the following results: 24.7 2775 fps 24.9 2800 25.1 2806 25.3 2825 25.5 2850 25.7 2886 I shot Silver Bear 62 HPBT to compare and chrono'd 2960 fps vs 3050 listed. Since my first TTSX loads were about 180 fps off of the the book max vs the 90-100 fps I expected using the 16" barrel I will use the 5.56 data and finish laddering from 25.9 to 27.2 and chrono. Only concern I have is that at 25.1 gr I was at 2806 vs. 2783 at 25.2 min in the book. Actually higher than the book's 20" bbl with my 16". Perhaps it was because I loaded 2.26 vs. 2.24 coal. Maybe more pressure. Oh well we shall see. |
