Slug question

Hi all! I´am new to this forum, and shotguns.

I have read some threads about slugs/brenneke and have a question...

Is there no worries at all to shot slugs in a smooth bore barrel with a "Improved Cylinder" choke?

(Benelli is recomending "Cylinder" choke for slugs, so that made me wonder...)

Improved cylinder should work fine ,though I wouldn't try any tighter choke.Remember also that you must always use a choke on your gun , otherwise you will damage the threads in the barrel!! When you use shot the type of choke [modified etc] is only a guide. ALWAYS pattern your ammo.Use a large piece of paper with a 30" circle to check how many pellets fall in the circle and if the pattern is unifrom.

Be sure you use rifled slugs, and not saboted slugs. The latter require a rifled bore.

I wouldn't get too worried about the choke. I've run the non-saboted slugs through Full choke barrels with no problems. Best accuuracy is with the more open chokes though (generally).

Scattergun Tech used to put Modified chokes in their 870 conversions.
