Hunter Safety Instructor Needs Your Help

Gentlemen and Ladies:

I instruct hunter safety in Washington State. As a component of my class, I like to introduce the students to unique types of ammunition. To do this, I pass around examples of the ammunition. I am asking that if any of you reload unique calibers that you send two "dummy rounds" to me. I would happily pay any shipping charges that you incurr. I would like the case to be empty and primer-less and the ball seated.

Here is a list of calibers that I currently have:

25-06
7mm-08
30-30
30-06
7x57
45-70
223 Remington
243 Winchester
308 Winchester
6.5x55
6.8mm Remington
22-250
222 Remington
204 Ruger
260 Remington
30 Carbine
44-40 Winchester
32-20 Winchester
38 Special
41 Remington Mag
357 Mag
44 Mag
45 Win Mag
45 Colt
380 Auto

If you have any other calibers that you could kindly add to my collection, I and my students would be very appreciative. You can email me at ejb"at"ecgmc.com if you have questions, or would like me to Paypal you shipping charges.

Thanks.

I want to thank those that have offered their assistance. Thus far, I have offers to provide the following additional calibers:

270 Winchester
45 ACP
221 Fireball
357 R Max.
6.5 Carcano
.303 British
8X56R
7.62X54R
7.62 Nagent Revolver
10MM
7-30 Waters
.220 Swift

Any others that individuals may reload would be greatly appreciated. This is one of the most enjoyed aspects of the class as students typically are only familiar with one or two different calibers.

Thanks!!!!!

You might consider including some shotgun shells as well. See my PM for 22-250 dummy rounds. Whoops -sorry - didn't notice you already have 22-250.

How about .50BMG? I would need a little more than just shipping though, since the brass and bullets are rather pricey. Lemme know.

Dave:

I appreciate your offer, but I actually already have one. I just forgot to mention it. One day if we ever get together I will tell you a story about a 10 year old kid that told me he was going to shoot a 30-40 Krag but had never seen the cartridge. I pulled the 50 BMG out of the box and he about passed out! It was hilarious. His dad got a big laugh out of it too.

I really am grateful for everyones support.

From a hunter safety standpoint, it might be a good idea to show the kids some wildcat cartridges that have headstamps from their parent cartridge cases. The lesson being that you could be fooled if you did not know what the cartridge your gun takes is really supposed to look like.

I can offer a .30 Herrett cartridge made from a .30-30 case, and maybe from a .375 Winchester case and a .225 Winchester case.

Let me know if you are interested.

I have considered what you are suggesting, but here is the challenge. Most of the students have almost no firearm training whatsoever. It is a challenge just to be able to get them to understand where they identify the caliber of rifle that they are hunting with and where they identify the caliber of the cartridge. To add in the complicating factor that a 30-30 headstamped cartridge might actually be a 6.5mm Benchrest Magnum or that a 30-06 might actually be a 6mm-06 is more than most could handle in the time that we have with them. I am pushing it a little by having AI ammuntion, as it is not apparent that it is different unless you have a little advanced understanding.

That said, I do appreciate the offers for "custom" ammunition, but I will have to save that for the "Advanced Hunter Safety" class that has yet to be developed.

You humble me. Thank you for the sacrafice that you and your family are making so that people like me and my kids can sleep sound at night, walk safely during the day, and enjoy the freedoms that every one of us that have not marched in your boots take for granted.

I will take you up on your offer, not because I need the cartridges, but because that will mean that you have returned safely to your family and loved ones.

Thank you so very much!

I appreciate your offer. Are the .44 Russian correctly headstamped? It is confusing for the students if we put calibers in the mix that are based on a different caliber case. If they are, then I would love to have a couple. If not, I would still appreciate the .44 S&W.

Also, you are correct - I have 30-06. That was just operator (me) error in making my list of calibers.

Shoot me an email or a PM and I will send you my mailing address.

Again, you guys are super.

Thanks!!!
