"truck-control" laws needed?
http://news.yahoo.com/authorities-11...051608764.html
Okay, so we have a truck crash that kills 11 people. Should we outlaw all trucks because of this? Should we develop "truck control" laws to keep these menacing instruments out of irresponsible people? Should we stop all law abiding citizens from driving trucks because this person misused the truck or was irresponsible with the truck? Hummm....gun laws anyone?

The standard counter-arguement will be that trucks were not designed to kill people....like guns were. Therefore the arguemnet is non sequitur.

I find it funny that people fear guns, but don't even seem to notice all the propane tanks in their vicinity on any given day.
If they understood the potential, I think they'd be more in favor of propane control than truck control. |

Not really sure it's really appropriate as it's own thread in the Law and Civil Rights area. This is just an old argument being dredged up with no where to go.
