Rem. 7400 30-06 brush/field

all my ammo will be reloads

Ruger No.1 Stainless with 7mm 150gr BarnesX handloads

OR my new Smith & Wesson 44mag.

Going to alternate between a Pedersoli .50 flinter, and an Encore pistol in .454 Casull. Talk about working both ends of the scale.

Sum1_Special Nice looking gun! I have an old gun that was passed down from my grandfather. Back in the 20s he let a guy use the gun on a hunting trip and he lost the bolt. My dad gave me the gun about two years ago. I thought I could find parts for this gun pretty easy. I was wrong! I took me two days to figure out what this guns is.

Wow! what a beautiful rifle that is, never seen one of those before. And it looks to be in perfect condition! The rifle seems rare as it is, I can only imagine how hard parts are to find. Maybe you could get a gunsmith or metal worker to make you another bolt? Or post a thread in the Numrich Gun parts forum.

Good luck on getting a bolt for that gun.

Over the past several years, I've acquired a few nice rifles with which I've never taken game.

Following some extensive chest surgery, I got rid of my .338 WinMag Mauser. When I recuperated to the point where I didn't dread recoil, I got a decent deal on a Ruger 77 in .338. Something about the stock that transmits every joule of energy onto my (reconstructed) shoulder. It is FIERCE! I don't feel too bad about leaving that rifle in the safe, and I guess I should sell or swap it.

I spent a lot of time and energy putting together a Savage Scout .308 and working up loads. Both Elder Son and I have carried it hunting but it's never been blooded.

For my 60th b'day, Elder Son gave me a Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70. It now has a set of ghost ring rights and I've worked up a good load for it. It's been hunting a couple of times but due to a combination of circumstances, I've never taken game with it.

After many years without any Remington 700, I got two in one year, in .375 H&H and .35 Whelen. Both are beautiful and shoot very well. I missed a hog with the .35, but neither 700 has bagged anything - - yet.

I intend to take deer and/or hog with at least .45-70 and .35W during the upcoming season. I have still others which would work - - A No. 4 Mk. 1 SMLE, an older M1A, a pre-64 Model 94 in .30-30, an 1100 Remington with slug barrel - - but I'm not as eager to take these for game. Other than E.S., my family's not much help - - Younger Son, while he's taken a couple of whitetails, is not much of a hunter. My sweet daughter-in-law is a meat hunter, pure and simple. She's had good success using my .257 Roberts and cares nothing for experimentation.

well i was planning on just using my mossberg 20ga. with slugs backed up by 3" mag #2 Buckshot if i even went. but i guy we know is giving my dad and me two treestands and has invited us to hunt on this couple hundred acres of land he leases so ive been thinking of heading up to the hunting/fishing store and seeing if they still had this winchester 94 .30-30 with a synthetic stock for $275.

also for squirrel, rabbit, fox, i plan on using my Marlin 25mn 22wmr with a simmons 44mag 6.5x20x44 on top.

Hunting peanut hay fields in North Florida, I will take the Mannlicher-Schoenauer in .270 Winchester, or the FN Mauser in 7mm Ackley.
For the swamps, I guess its going to be the Savage Model 170 pump in 30-30, or the Marlin 1894S in .44 Mag.
For hogs up in South Georgia, most likely the Springfield SOCOM, .308
If I get up to the old farm in the SW Virginia mountains, I take the Mannlicher-Schoenauer full stocked carbine in 8x57 Mauser.

T/C Omega SS in .50 caliber using 100 gr Pyrodex pellets, Winchester primers and T/C hollow points with plastic sabots.

Maybe the old 336 Marlin in .35 Rem or the Savage .243 if we don't run out of freezer space before gun season?

This fall I plan on using:

Mosin Nagant 91/30 (Yes a lot of us have these guns...they are still damn accurate and more than enough to take most anything in North america. And S&B makes damn good SP rounds.)

Swiss K31 (This is a new one for me this year but at the range it's been doing 2.5" groups @ 100yds.) Finding SP hunting ammo is hard though. Got 3 boxes from Makarov.com.

Trusted old Marlin .30-30. Hasn't failed me yet. I use the Remington Hollowpoint 180gr rounds.

CVA Bobcat .50cal Blackpowder. This is for hunting on my father's property on the Eastern Shore (where you can only use Bow, Blackpowder or shotgun). I use the 300Gr Powerbelt bullets and they works like a charm.

This is the year i'm taking a deer with a relic .
last year took my biggest buck with a sporter
loaded with one of my reformed brass reloads .
Gonna use m48, 98-22, K31, and a No1 Mark III .
Hopefully before season i can get a m44 i'm waiting
for my C&R
