My father-in-law just called me from Colorado last night to let me know that he shot a nice 6x6 on his one and only elk hunt. He was quite excited and I am happy for him. It doesn't hurt that I get the meat either (his wife doesn't allow wild game at their house).

Cheers,
David Curry

Elk meat, yum, yum, and good for you too. Did your father in-law shoot his elk with a bow or rifle? Rifle season isn't here yet in Wyoming?

He used a muzzleloader. I've never had the pleasure of tasting elk before (we don't have too many of them in Texas ), so I can't wait until he returns next Thursday or Friday. Think I'll have a cookout!

Umm.. David? Did I hear "Barbecue at Dave's, Saturday night?"

Elk venison is the best!

Umm.. Matt? Did I hear that some people might want to come over if I had an elk cookout? If so, consider it a done deal! We just need to set a time. Unfortunately, next Saturday is booked and I have to go to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a couple of days in the near future, but the dates aren't set yet. More on Indiana in a new thread I'm starting

Cheers,

Lucky B@stards, both of you!

I just got back from Colorado myself. unfortunatly it wasn't a hunting trip, but I did get to see my first wild elk. I'll be back!

Several years ago Dad got a nice 6x6 in New Mexico. If there is anything better than chicken-fried elk backstrap, I haven't found it.

Green-with-envy,

You guys should quit grumbling and drive or fly over to Denton! If you need an excuse for your wife, just tell her that you want to go hang with some guys that you chatted with on the internet---she'll understand.

Cheers,
David Curry
