I find very little difference in accuracy between 5.5 & 7 inch barrels.
The biggest difference is balance and I prefer the balance of the 5.5" heavy barrels. The 7" will give you a longer sight radius though.

I have a 5 inch bull with the black target sights. Excellent little pistol. Just replace the little plastic buffer every so often. S&W will send some if you need them.

I have the 7" barrel and its great. It may be the best shooting pistol I have. I put a little red dot on it and its dead on.

The longer the sight radius the more precise, but the shorter the sight radius the more stable the front sight will be. I you have old eyes like mine and shoot by sense of smell like I do the short one with the fancy sights might be better. Off a sandbag the long barrel wins. Also I seem to recall a 22A with a steel (stainless?,22S?)frame a couple of years ago but the S&W site doesn't list one now.
