Ruger 1st Model Mini 14 Value
This is for my step dad. He has a Ruger 1st Model Mini-14
He would like to know what its worth. I can supply the serial to someone via PM if that gets us someplace but won't publish it otherwise. |

All you need is the first three of the serial to establish the series..

No one can give a value on something they can't see.
Nor can one give anything other than a guess based on someone's verbal description. 95% to you might be 90% or 99% to me, understand? Post pictures of it, making sure to get a good clear ones of the front and rear sights as well as one of the stock and buttplate. No need to photograph the complete serial, tape over the last portion if need be. Potential appraisal and sale would require all but the last couple digits of the serial number to establish provenance. If it is a true first model (none were sold to the public - Police sales only - at the time IIRC), there is a definite market. Same marketability, but to a much lesser extent for first model civilian Mini-14s. Pics, JT |

I don't have the gun and will see about pictures
The Ser. No. is 180- is the start. Its in new conditon, it has 15 rounds through it, my step dad is meticulous about his care of guns so 95% + would be a good ballpark |

Honestly, its probably not worth much. The 180 series were great guns except for one thing: accuracy. They had thin barrels that whipped and the accuracy was horrible. The newer ones have corrected this problem, and in my opinion the mini series is now one of the best guns you can buy, so not many people want the older series models.
That said, the accuracy is good enough for for self defense work, they make a great little gun to take on hikes or keep by your bedside, I would just keep it. |

Throw some pictures up. Mine is a 183 and great condition, and I was told by some other members that it's pretty rare. Not sure how much it's worth though.

I have the old Mini sr. # starting with 184. I put accu-struts on mine and what a great improvement in accuracy.

Used to have a 180 series Ranch...
I suspect value would be dependent somewhat on whether it's the Ranch, or original Mini- which did not have the ability to mount an optic.
