Old rifle-what is it?
I was at the range today and someone brought in this old rifle and had no clue what it is. Neither do I.
I only had a camera phone so pictures are probably not real good. The rifle does have a bayonet lug on the right side of the barrel a few inches from the muzzle. The stock looks like it was hacked out by chisel. Very crude looking. The rifle does have a military type ladder rear sight. The hammer is external and on the right side and the bolt is flipped up with the thumb. I have never seen anything like this. Maybe you guys can help. Geetarman. |

WERNDL
I have both a M1867 (in your pics) and a M1867/77 which mounts the hammer on the INSIDE of the lock plate. A very interesting and unusual rifle to be sure. Last edited by Romeo 33 Delta; March 30, 2012 at 12:36 PM. |
