Question about SBRs

A friend of mine (no it is not me) Just bought a Bushmaster Carbon 15 "pistol" and he wants to put a collapsable stock on it where the buffer cover is now. Would that make the pistol and rifle and subject to BATFE SBR restrictions? Just curious.

He could also simply fill out the necessary paperwork, obtain CLEO signoff, send in the $200.00 and register it as an SBR.

Only if your state allows SBRs

Some states don't allow SBR's after a certain date.

Washington for one after 1994.

Or set up a trust and avoid the finger prints, mug shot, and CLEO signoff.
