pawn shop find: 1948 Colt Official Police
... was at a pawn shop today and saw an old looking Colt revolver in the case. I asked to look at it, it was a Colt Official Police .38 Special, 4" barrel. The finish is a little worn, but no rust and functions flawlessly. I called Colt and they verified the serial number as manufactured in 1948.
It has some (albeit nice) pearl grips, so I'll need to find a set of original grips for it for my taste. My camera's DOA right now, pics asap. Last edited by kokopelli; August 19, 2009 at 09:07 PM. |

Sounds like a nice acquisition. I've been wanting to pick up one up in good mechanical condition at a reasonable cost. Not easy to do around here.

Congratulations. They're nice revolvers. Here's a picture of my 1950 that I got a few weeks ago. The grips aren't originals I don't think, but I like them.
