Is this a good price?

I 've been looking for a semi auto 12 gauge for some time now and have always been fond of the the 1100. None of the local gun shops have had any used ones and when one does come around it looks pretty hammered. I found one on gun broker that looks pretty clean and comes with 2 28" vr barrels one full and one modified 2 3/4" chamber for a buy it now price of 650 which includes shipping to my ffl. So I ask the shotgun enthusiast of this forum as to whether or not that is an inflated price or right in line for what you are getting. Thanks in advance.

Even with the extra barrel, that seems pretty high to me for a used fixed choke gun. You should be able to find a nice used 1100 with removable choke tubes between $350 and $450.

There are a lots of them out there.

I would keep looking.

too high! I've found them for sale locally here in NE Ohio for under $450 in pretty nice shape.

You can also search for "Remington Sportsmans 12" In 1985-1986 Remington made a plain-Jane version of the 1100 called the "Sportsman 12" for the Sportsman at a lower price point. It didn't have the engraved receiver and the stocks were birch. Bluing wasn't matte finish like the "Express" versions today, but it doesn't seem as bright. They don't brign as much as the standard 1100's. I've gotten severalof them in the last two years for under $250 shipped/transferred off the online auctions. When I have them for sale, most people will try to tell me that they are a pre-1100 gun, or older than 1100's, etc. It says right on the Remingon website that they were made in 1985-1986 onky and they are essentially 1100's. All 1100 parts interchange. Be careful though......Remington has made umpteen different "Sportsman" models in shotguns and rifles over the years......If it looks like an 1100 with the slanted foreend, it's the Sportsman 12 (i.e. 1100) They usually (not always though) tend to be sleepers in the auctions.
