Registered pistol crime stats?

Has anyone found any official crime stats online that show statistics relating to how many registered pistols are involved in felony murders? IU have looked high and low in FBI’s website and found nothing.

That's probably because most States do not have any registration requirement.

The most you could get would be to inquire of those States that do have registration.

Or take the FBI's New York stats, and try and extrapolate based on % of pistols in the state registered...

To make any use of that data would be to assume that all other factors, such as income, quality of schools, police officers per capita, median income, substance abuse, substance abuse treatment, quality of public housing, and property taxes would be moot.

That's a real apples vs. oranges approach.

If you like you can use stats from countries where all the weapons are registered and nearly all gun crime would be from registered guns. That would be like apples to bandannas.

The real problem Tom, is assuming the % of legally possessed handguns used in crimes is somehow on a 1:1 ratio of guns who's ownership is in and of itself somehow a crime.

To assume that all firearms are registered in countries that require registration is a bit much. Estimates for Germany are: some 5.6 million registered, probably 20 million not registered.
