Always resize first. Resizing can change the length of the case.

trim

Run through the full length die and measure OAL and compare to specs posted in your reloading manual.
Trimming is not necessary after each sizing. Get a good quality caliper, clean your brass, etc.

Trimming is most often necessary after the first firing. And if you use the inexpensive Lee trimming tools, you can't trim at all unless the primer is out of it... which naturally, you do when you size.

For my AK-47, I do a full resize, tumble, then trim if needed. My bolt rifle brass only gets neck-sized. Hope you are enjoying your new hobby! BTW, choose carefully when picking a lube for your resizing. After too much trial and error, I finally discovered Imperial Sizing Wax, and have never looked back. Great stuff if used properly.

Tumbling comes first. Then re-size, trim, chamfer, de-burr.

If you tumble first, don't you get a dusty coating that presents a "dirty" case to the resizing die?

After firing the case is "dirty" because of effects of hot gases, principally around the neck; the body of the case is not really "dirty."

As a result, I've concluded that
1)resizing, then measuring for excessive length,
2) trimming, chamfer/debur the mouth of those needed, then
3) tumbling (to remove the lubricant), then
4)check the flash hole for pieces of tumbling media, clean the primer pocket if excessively dirty (assuming you've trued the pockets in the first place) is the way to go.
