Which powder 16" barrel .45 acp
I am new to this forum, have done reloading years ago, now retiring, am starting up again. Forgive any errors. I have H&K .45 carbine, 16 inch barrel, and bullseye just burns too fast. I need a recommendation for a slower burner that will flow easily thru loader. Thanks for any info.

Same as for 5 inch.
No point overanalyzing, just shoot. |

You could go to the slow end of the .45 auto powders like HS-6, might gain a few fps if that's what you're after.

Why are you disappointed in the BE and what are you trying to accomplish with a "new" different powder? Accurate #5, #7 and Ramshot True Blue are fine ball powders and will meter like water. Ramshot Silhouette is not a true ball, but it meters like one. Data for above powders found here. http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-con...ec_1-23-14.pdf |

It is widely thought to be the same as Winchester Action Powder with a flash inhibitor added. While it is true the OP might squeeze a little extra velocity out of a carbine with a slower powder, it just wouldn't be worth the trouble to me. If I need more power than standard .45, I would go to a real high powered rifle... like a .30-30. Trivia: Ramshot is getting all their powder except Silhouette and Competition (shotshell) from Belgium. Accurate powders are made in Belgium, USA, Canada and several not identified, like they used to do when they were flip-flopping contractors. |

When I tested Blue Dot in my M1911 the recoil was hard and ejection violent. That told me that residual breech pressures were high. For a pistol this is a bad thing, but in a carbine or submachine gun with a heavy bolt, that might be a good thing. Try Blue Dot and see if you can get the velocity up in your 16" barrel.
