Recasting lubed bullets question?
Can you recast lubed bullets of is it too much fluxing of the lead? If so, What would the hardness be considered after its molded and recast, Hard or would it be the alloy you started with and still have the same temper?

Yes. The attached lube will flux the melt and your alloy will be just whatever it was originally.

Flux
There is no problem putting the bullets back in the mix. The lube will just act as a flux. The hardness of the bullet will depend on how old the bullets that your are throwing in. Bullets tend to harden slightly over time. So if the bullets are older then your mix would be a touch softer. Tom.

I agree with the other posters. I have been casting bullets for more years than I want to remember. The lube as stated will act like a flux.
I have to laugh somewhat, I have cast bullets so long that I actually used solid Pine Tree sap as a flux. Actually it worked out good too, smelled a lot better too. |
