RCBS Uniflow

Just changed over from rifle to pistol loads on my RCBS Uniflow. Must be getting old because I can't figure out how to set it up so the powder dumps on the down stroke. Yes, I can turn it around so the adjustment screw is on the back side but that doesn't seem right. Would someone mind looking at theirs and see if they can figure it out. I've seen RCBS website diagram, but they have it set up so it fills when the handle is down, and dumps on the upstroke Thanks

Thanks GP man, at least I have one vote that the old alzheimer's isn't kicking in yet. Cutting stick powder on the upstroke ain't cool. There gotta be a China-man involved.

Thanks for the thread guys!

So it's normal for it to be stiff on some strokes with stiff powder???

Sweet. Was worrying me the other night.

Stick powder and the uniflow are problematic for me. I did the scoop & trickle until I sprung for the RCBS ChargeMaster.

Why do you want to use stick powder in handguns? Got a good load suggestion?

Im not looking at mine right now, but can't you just screw the handle on the other way to get it to do this? There are 3 screw holes on the drum and two in the handle so you can switch it to throw on the top or the bottom of the stroke.

It also allows you to change handle position, so you get a short handle stroke (great for ball powders), or long handle stroke (better for cutting grains with extruded powders).

I must be having a senior moment here. I've been using the same Uniflo for 35 years, and load with the adjustment screw in the rear. Is there another way to do this? If I load with extruded (stick) powders, I set the measure to throw 1/2 the charge and whack it twice. More accurate that way and only cuts 1/2 the kernels at a time. I LOVE my powder measure; it has kept my handsome phizzog in place this long, why change?

My Uniflow came assembled like this (screw in the front)

It never even occured to me that you could put it in the back like this.

Mine is like the 2nd pic. Made sense that way, handle is where the powder charge is.

Simple as turning the measure 180 degrees (charge adjustment to rear) and changing the handle 180 degrees.

I have been using a Uniflow powder measure on stick powder for 12 years and like with the 35 year marriage to my wife, we have had our ups and downs.
