Reccommend a load for 270

I'm shooting my pre 64 Model 70 in 270 at targets only (100 to 500 yards). I don't hunt. Would appreciate advice on powder and bullets. Thanks.

I've had great success using IMR4895 powder and Hornady 130 gr. SST's in hunting situations out to 200 yards. At longer ranges I would use 150 gr. SST's.
I know that you're a target shooter, but what works on game should work fine when killing paper.

I hunt with a 270 for elk, I use 150s pushed by 52 grns of 4350 but I only hunt to 300 yards.

If I wasn't going to hunt with it, and wanted longer ranges I'd go to the 150 Berger. Its good hunting round and better long range round, but I see no benefit under 300 yards.

We use AR2209 with Fed Primers and Woodleigh Protected points on deer. Powder names may be different here in Aus compared to the US.

With the 22" barrel, I'd use RL-19 or H-4831 under 130 Sierra's or Hornady.

I haven't reloaded very long but I have been using H4831 with 130 gr sierras and speers. The bullets perform in very similar manners and I have been happy with the groups.
