Educated Guesstimates Please on .44 Mag Load Velocity

I do not have a working crony anymore, (yes, it's on my list ) , but i'd sure appreciate some info & opinions from those of you that create a load or one close to it, with the following ingrediants, of what ACTUAL velocity you attain, and your estimate on mine. I do realize varriables exist that fluctuate results .

.44 Magnum - 5 1/2 " Ruger SBH

.44 mag cases
262 gr. Cast Kieth style ( were advertised as 250 gr, but weigh 262 )
8.5 grs. Unique
WLP
Medium roll crimp

Many Thanks

You are probably coming out at right around 800 fps. That's a pretty mild load.

It doesn't look like I've tried that specific load, but I tried 8.0 and 9.0 grains under RCBS 44-250-K which should be extremely close to your bullet. These were fired in my 6" Colt Anaconda, so again not identical, but close.

8.0 -- 942 fps
9.0 -- 1020

So, splitting the difference yours should be about 950 - 980 fps I would think.

I'd guess around 1000fps.Here's a link to Sixguns Taffins tests at the bottom he says 1065 with a 240 and 8.5 of unique.

Thanks, all. Prior to test firing 6 of these & posting here, my estimate was 925 fps , so it's fairly close to the average of your three responses. I welcome any more predictions. Recoil was fairly light, the load was accurate, there was minimal leading, and the bullets did not jump the crimp. I may bump it to 9.0 grs for a hoped for 975 -1000 fps load and call it good. Thanks again.
