How can I bid and buy on Gunbroker.com?

There is a gun I'm interested in on Gunbroker.com. I've never bought a gun online before and wanted to check with those in the know about the process. I do not have a FFL, and the sellers ad says you need one to buy. But Gunbroker.com says I can have the gun transferred to one of my local LGS. Is that the case, or do I have to have a FFL? I don't want to place my bid, win, and then find out I can't get it.

Is Gunbroker.com a safe and easy place to buy?

Gunbroker is just like ebay, a place to buy and sell. Sellers make their own terms and conditions as long as they conform to gunbroker's rules. I can't imagine a seller wouldn't ship to your FFL once you make your payment and the FFL forwards a copy of his/her license to the seller. Does the seller have good feedback?

I bought 2 pistols from sellers on gunbroker and had excellent results.

Send the seller an email to clarify, I bet you'll be ok. Good luck.

Please provide a link to this auction. I'd like to read the wording... it would be quite unusual for a seller to limit themselves to FFL holder bidders only. Kind of stupid actually.

I'd guess the seller will probably only ship to an FFL, but you can ask him directly.

The sales listing should have a link for sending a query to the seller; you should to this prior to bidding, if you ever have any question. Once you bid, you are committed, both to the purchase and to the terms of purchase listed in the ad.

(Edit: Assuming your bid wins.)

Gunbroker is easy to use. You will need to register and that is easy but you will have to provide them a credit card number.
GB also has a list of dealers in your area by zipcode that will do tranfers. After you register, I would search for a dealer and give them a call.
Bidding is no different than ebay

Mmmmm... Not necessarily... as a buyer, I have done my Gunbroker transactions by using Post Office Money Orders... i.e. I go to my local PO, pay them cash, and they print out a Money Order which I put in an envelope and send to the vendor via snail-mail. Has worked fine for me.

If you have a pick n save near you, they do money orders for a flat $0.99. I was paying about 3-4 bucks on average at the post office.

You are probably correct. However when GB first started, I was told I must provide a CC number in order to bid or sell. I understand things are different now.

Some sellers accept PayPal, but you have to be careful. If any term that could be considered "gun" is used PayPal rejects it. They are one of the anti's. Not judging, I use them on eBay.

Some of the sellers, Gun shops mostly, will accept PistolPay. I have one of those accounts for buying on GunBroker and Guns America. I like the way PistolPay handles the transaction and provides some measure of assurance to the seller and the buyer.

Postal Money order is acceptable for almost all sellers.

If you are dealing with an individual, check with your LGS to be sure they will accept a firearm from an individual - some won't.

You can pay by various methods, but back when I signed up, a credit card was required for initial registration with GunBroker - not for buying, per se.
