Federal GMM powder
I'm currently shooting Federal gold metal match .308 168gr. BTHP. This is the most accurate ammo I've found so far and I'd like to try and duplicate their recipe. I've taken a few apart and weighed the powder, just don't know what kind it is. Anyone know?? Also intrested in any suggestions on other powder options for 168gr. .308. Thanks.

The standard 168gr load (duplicate of the military M852 match) is 41.5gr IMR4895 in a surplus case. The Nosler J4 bullet works just as well and is a bit cheaper.
4064, Varget, VhitaV N140 have all worked well for me. Push a 168 to 2600fps and it should fly pretty good. Ty |

I have read that Federal uses Vihtavuori powders in SOME of their match loads. Probably the N140 that 30cal mentions. But there is no way to be sure, they buy on bid and some of it has come through with ball powder.
