Ithaca Flues 4E
I've got an Ithaca Flues I am trying to put a price on. Very clean with bright bores. There is a small rub on the center rib and a small chip on the side of the butt plate. Other than that it is beautiful. Anyone have any thoughts?
I was offered 1600 for it 7 years ago with just a crappy picture on the internet. Makes me wonder what it may be worth now. As far as selling it; that will depend on how much more money I need for my wifes "honey do " list. |

try the folks at doublegun.com or shotgunworld.com - there are a lot of folks who know those guns - they will probably want pictures of the proof marks as well to help them help you..
BTW - IMO, awesome looking gun...good luck |

Ithaca
A 4E Flues, in that condition, if all original, should bring $2200 to $2700.. JFC

I'm no expert, but prices seem to be all over the place. Here's a very nice gun for a lot of money. John

Here's a 20 ga. reduced from $5500 to $3950. It's the gun at the bottom of the page.
www.ithacaguncollection.com/page02.htm Who knows what they'll sell for, but it is encouraging isn't it? John |

Those are asking prices, not selling prices. $3950 is about right for a 20 bore NID Ithaca..JFC

I have a couple other doubles I am wondering about also. D. Kirkwood and a W.W.Greener, they are damascus and both over 100 years old I believe. Last edited by DMacLeod; May 22, 2008 at 05:52 AM. |

I saw the pics at shotgunworld.com very nice looking gun.
I found a reference by Charles Askins that mentioned D. Kirkwood was an old-time expert gunsmith of the kind that is now becoming rare. Then there is this. www.goldmedalconcours.com/gmc10collection "The Featured Collection Post-Civil War Bespoke American Gunmakers presented by James W. ‘Bill’ McPhail, MD Greensville, South Carolina GMC X’s featured collector, Bill McPhail, will present breech-loading hammer guns by little-known but high-grade American gunmakers of the period 1865-1895. The work of these craftsmen—many were immigrants from England and the Continent—contributed to the development of the American shotgun and influenced more recognized American makers such as Parker, Fox, Smith, Lefever and Ithaca. On display will be seminal guns by: Ethan Allen Worcester, Massachusetts Wesson Springfield, Massachusetts Mortimer & Kirkwood Boston David Kirkwood Boston Joseph Tonks Boston William Schafer Boston George Fox (American Arms) Boston Charles Sneider Baltimore John Krider Philadelphia Patrick Mullen New York City A.G. Genez New York City Charles Greene Rochester T.R. Hasdell Chicago E. Thomas, Jr. Chicago" |

Thanks John. I posted the Kirkwood on doublegun dot com a few months ago and Bill McPhail gave me a little history on David Kirkwood. Its serial# is 1001. This kind of makes me wonder if it is the first or one of the first shotguns he made.
It really is a beautiful shotgun in what I feel is excellent shape. Especially for a weapon made over 125 years ago. I posted it in a thread |
