Using 45 Colt Brass for 45 Schofield Revolver

I am about to start reloading 45 Schofield (45 S&W). I have a large amount of empty 45 Colt brass. Can I trim the Colt brass to Schofield length and load it as 45 Schofield?

I plan to use a 45 Schofield seater die and a 45 Colt shell holder.

The biggest problem may be ejecting the Colt shells from the revolver since the Schofield base is slightly wider.

Good chance this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it when I searched.

Yes, people have been making .45 Schofield brass by trimming .45 Colt cartridge cases to length for years. However, Starline offers excellent .45 Schofield brass, so you will have properly marked cases.

if you can find some once fired brass from the hornady lever evolution ammo its already a little shorter than normal, less trimming.........
