license for reloading????
A friend just bought a new reloading set up a one of the MAJOR retailers. While making his purchase, he was told that there is a purposal by our federal gov't that would require a license to purchase reloading equipment and/ or components.........
Anyone else hear of this???? I dont want to start a panic- and to me it sounded ridiculous!!! |

I think he refers to the CIFTA treaty that was being trotted out for public spin display(again) during the horrific USA/Mexican gun border smuggling crisis of a few months ago.

That would have a snow flake in hell's chance of passing. They backed off the assault weapons ban. That is a much bigger goal for the gun grabers. I would not lose sleep over this.

I agree that it's unlikely and no cause for panic.
"Why, the govt is about as likely to do that as outlaw cold beer or sippin' whiskey." Uhhhh wait a minute they did do that with the 18th amendment! Yeah yeah they repealed it... right right... but the point is they tried it. Just because it sounds stupid doesn't mean our wizards in Washington can't make it happen.

Dont lull yourself into thinking that this administration is "afraid" of doing either........they are simply waiting for the right moment. (Like if the "Obamanation" gets a second term, with nothing to lose):barf::barf::barf::barf::barf::barf:

I have even seen some good measures go through this year. Like the National Parks allowing CC. He will not attack guns this term, he will do it if he gets a second. And he will do it, he is a proven anti gun politician.

G'day. Some reloading components here including loaded ammo require ste shop assistant to see a firearms liscance prior to the sale being finalised. If you want powder they must record your liscance details.
Don't be so nieve to think it can't/won't happen where you are.

I'm not so bold as to say it couldn't happen here. But probably not anytime soon. Instead, I think the lawmakers will just keep adding specific taxes to guns, ammo, and reloading components just the same way they have special taxes that apply to alcohol, tobacco, and gasoline. They will just keep gradually increasing those taxes until it becomes ridiculously expensive to be a shooter.

"Dont lull yourself into thinking that this administration is "afraid" of doing either"
It's not really on the burner for now but let's not kid ourselves, it's IS something the statists (Liberals/Socialists/Democrats/Main Stream Media/ACORN/University wonks, etc) would love to see. Mao said, "Religion is the opiate of the masses." The opiate the statist is power over the masses. |

Several years ago ( 40 or so)it was "required" to have a "Powder Permit" to purchase gunpowder here. I don't remember if it was a County thing or a State wide situation. I don't know if it was repealed or just ignored any more. It wasn't hard to get one, just a PITA to do the travel and paperwork.
