1903 Range Report
I packed up my Springfield 1903 with the reloads and headed to the range a month or so back and was lucky enough to print this wonderful 3 shot group at 200yds.
What a wonderful rifle. My 03 was fixed up by Roland Beaver several years back. Last edited by pdh; October 9, 2012 at 06:31 PM. |

beautiful rifle. I have a 1912 made springfield with a 1919 rebarrel that probably should have been rebarreled again after WWII, it is only capable of about 2 MOA with hand loads. still, in my book if it can hit a paper plate at 200 yards then that equals dead deer and is good 'nough for me.

A (gun dealer) friend has a mint 03 "sniper" rifle with the open sights. I used to work up loads for him. I had one with R22 powder and Nosler ballistic tip that would shoot well under an inch at 100 yards.
I watched him drop a doe at 500 yards with those open sights that was running full speed. Needless to say the gun shoots and so does it's owner. He's the best shot I've ever seen. At the time he was young. Now he knows the value of the rifle so takes something else deer hunting. |

I love my '03's. All are good shooters and I find them to be a bit addicting.
Since this picture was taken, I have acquired another one. Last edited by highpower3006; October 9, 2012 at 09:24 PM. |
