Date of Hi Standard 22

A friend recently received a High Standard 22 that belonged to his Grandfather. I was wondering if anyone could help me find the year of manufacture. I know that it is a pre 1950's model, but thats it.
It is a High Standard H-D Military with Bull Barrel SN# 5645*

Thanks

TonyZ
