1300defender stock too long

Purchased a 1300 in May (mothers day gift for the wife) and finally got to take it out for a good couple of hours. This was the first shotgun I've ever fired and I can't believe what I've been missing out on. Problem is we are short and stubby people and handling is very awkward. Is it possible to shorten a synthetic stock or are shorter after market stocks available?

Welcome to TFL!

Hi tbz,

Actually both solutions are possible. If you have a smith in your area, shortening the stock is no big issue. I've had it done on a couple of stocks.

For about the same price, www.natchezss.com has the Outers Cadet stocks - shortened length of pull and a recoil pad. Friend got one and is pretty happy with it.

The Winchester 1300 Ranger Compact has a 1" shorter length of pull. http://www.usrac.com/prodinfo/catalo...gercompact.htm The standard 1300 Ranger is 14". http://www.usrac.com/prodinfo/catalo...300_ranger.htm I would guess that the Choate and Outers stocks would be about the same.

Remove the stock. Install a pistol grip. Now you ready.
