remington 700 sedona extraction issue

Greetings,
remington 700 sendero,.300 win mag luepold vari x 3 mil dot scope, purchased used. issue is (after firing) bolt will unlock, I.E. rotate up, but will not "come back" without tapping bolt rearward with the palm of my hand, gun shoots extremely accuratly with whatever its fed, off the shelf or handload. there is zero issue with chambering the next round. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Sign of over-pressure I think... any other signs? Is the spent brass round? Could be chamber out of round. Those are my two guesses.

have tried 2 differant boxes of factory ammo, 180 gr.winchester and the same in remington same results,

I would call Remington Customer Service and see what they have to say. If you are having these issues with factory ammo, there may be a problem.

Take it to a gunsmith and have him check it out. It may be that there is something wrong with the chamber and doing a cast is the only way you'll find out.

just went out and tried to rechamber the spent brass, I.E. fired a round, unload, and reload the same empty shell, couldnt do it, there is a definate but very light "ring" just north of the belt and 2 very light scratches 180 deg apart at the top of the neck, any thoughts? and could someone reccomend a quality gunsmith in the charlotte area?

Is it the original barrel,sounds like your head space is to much. After firing the round the case will expand to the shape of your chamber and the space from the back of the fired case to the face of your bolt,thats were I think your problem is. In most cases fired formed cases in the same bolt gun is the way to go if you reload for accuracy, but thats for another post. Easy fix by a good gunsmith. Have one check it out,your rifle seems like it's a keeper if it shoots like you say it does. Hope I helped Chris

the issue is fixed, took the gun to an elderly gentlemen up the road a piece, he cut a slot in a piece of 3/8 brake line and wegded a rather large wad of 0000 steel wool on it, chucked it up in a cordless drill and polished the chamber, did it a little at a time and took him roughly 4 hours, extracts smooth as silk now, cost me a quart of my grandads whisky, but well worth it
