Has anyone used decent reloading software??

Seems to me reloading is one of those adictions that would benefit from good reloading software. I have yet to see any.

If you were to create reloading software, what would you want included in it. Me first!

--A way of projecting the cost of a particular receipt.
--A way of tracking the costs of supplies.
--A way of calculating the payout or return on investment
--A way of tracking ballistics of each load
--A reloading diary
--A way of tracking scoring in competition

What do you think?

Everything you posted is available...

And, if you are creative and have the time, God created Excel, so you can arrange that data in any form you like.

I agree with sricciardelli. Put it on a spread sheet and let it do the math. Most every computer comes with one in some form or another.
There are 437.5 grains per Troy oz. There are 12 Troy oz per pound. Thus 437.5 X 12 = 5250 grains per pound.
At $15 per pound, $15 / 5250 = $0.0028571
5.0 grains per round, $0.0028571 x 5.0 = $0.0142855 per round
$0.0142855 x 50 = $0.714275 per box of 50 for powder.

Target bullets are around 25 per 500, that's $0.05 each, x 50 = $2.50
That's $3.25 plus around $0.75 for primers (do the math yourself this time darn it), your up to $4.00 for a box of custom loaded rounds for your pistol.

I thing you have Troy ounces confused with the correct Avoirdupois ounces. Troy would only be used if you are a jeweler.
There are 437.5 grains / Avoirdupois ounce or 7000 grains / Pound.

Thanks for the suggestions. I currently use a spreadsheet and am not happy with the results. My objective is to use the software and hopefully learn more about all aspects of reloading. The discussion about what kind of grains to use is the reason I asked for suggestions as to good software.

My objective is use software, not have it use me.

linngl,
I guess I screwed that one up. I was thinking 7,000 gr. per pound to start, then went and looked it up to make sure. Guess they didn't explain it clear enough for me...........
Well anyway, that means $0.0021428 per round. Cheaper yet! It's like finding money. Can't wait to tell my wife how much I'm saving so I can explain why I can afford that new P97 Ruger.

QuickLoad/QuickTarget is absolutely outstanding. The section in the manual on "Reflections on Internal Ballistics" is almost worth the cost of the software itself ($150). If you REALLY want to know about internal and external ballistics in what is basically a PC based hydrdynamics lab, this is it. Their tech support is also very good.
