.308 caliber rifles
In shtf scenerio where do you guys put the usefulness of having a 308 rifle. I love this cartridge. But i am thinking it might just be a novelty in shtf. Does anyone know if any armies use 308 for their infantry? I know swat teams here in USA use it in their sniper rifles. Would be more wise to go with a more popular cartridge like 556 or 762×39? Just curious to see what you guys have to say about this.

Just thinking out loud, maybe the rifle choice might be more important than caliber. Possible range, rate of fire, and support would be as important. Solo, family, or member of a small group, or larger group. How about location? Who or what will you be defending against?

The US still has 308 in the supply chain. A ton of it as linked ammo for the M240 machine gun. 1 can of that would feed your bolt gun for awhile..

Probably there are many websites which discuss weaponry for SHTF. TFL is not one of them.
