pics of your safes?

This is to all of you that have a large collection of handguns. How are your safes configured? Do you have pics of them?

I currently only own 4 pistols at the moment, 2 in my posession, 2 i pick up tomorrow. I'm curious as to how you people with 20+ handguns etc are able to store that many?

This is my handgun safe. It is a modest collection but it is not a bad one considering I have only been collecting a little over 3 years. My rifle safe is not nearly as impressive.

I bought the racks from a fellow board member that produces them.

Safe ! don't need a safe, I've can't hardly carry all five at one time. PBP if I had your "modest" safe I'd be in the gun shop business.

LOL, yeah modest by the Smithsonian's standards. With 41 handguns, you could arm a small army...

Nice job of organization by the way, how do you sort them? The 2nd row down looks to be all pistols, the 4th and 5th row revolvers.

Shoot, Im almost too ashamed too post my safe organization photo after PB's safe organization photo, because I'm the guy who makes the racks. This is how I had my safe organized, but I'm hoping to get a new safe for Christmas. We've been looking at safes and I think she's willing, if I contribute a little towards the purchase. If I get the one I want, this is the rack that will go in there (2nd photo). I only have 13 handguns now, so I've had this larger 13 gun rack sitting aside for a while now just waiting until I get that larger safe. This will go on the top shelf with the 5 long guns underneath.

I picked up this 3700 lb safe from a jewelry store that closed down. I was going to take the drawers out to make room for some long guns but they work perfectly for my hand guns w/o boxes. The secure safe within is for 380 ammo.

Thanks MrClean! I had been looking for an additional safe more along the lines of Playboy's or ZEBRARANGER's when I stumbled onto this one, which works OK for my purpose.

FLHT, if ever they come for your .380 ammo, they'll take it and leave the guns scattered like so much trash.

.380 is like diamonds right now!

PBP - That's what you got in just over 3 years? LOL!! ok..well i shouldn't laugh. At the rate i'm going i'll probably have you beat! Right now i'm at 4 handguns and have been collecting 2 months lol. That is a great setup though. Did your safe come with those shelves or was it a normal setup with 1 or 2 shelves and the rest of the space was for rifles? If the latter did you buy those shelves or make them?

FLHT - That's a pretty cool safe. I've never seen a wooden safe before. heh. Especially one that's embeded in a wooden shelf.

Badness,

The safe did not come that way. I added the shelves. It came as shown below in a pic from my first few months of collection.

It is funny to look at that pic. The only one of those guns I still have is the Marlin rifle.

It is a basic, low-end Sentry safe. I bought it for $299 at Lowes.

I've got the same safe. It's crammed to the gills right now. I wish I actually bought a bigger one even through I don't have that many guns.

How did you install the shelves?

PlayboyPenguin ... fantastic looking setup!

How did you hang/set/attach the shelves?

PlayboyPenguin-

I didn't know Lowes even sold safes. Is that one rated for fire protection? I may have to look into one at our Lowes.

Thanks!

No it's all metal inside, and out, with the "optional woodgrain upgrade". The original owner bought it new from Mosler in (I believe) 1940. He gave me the original invoice and shipping bill of lading which is kinda cool. This is a picture of the tags on it, which I really don't understand.

Wow, those are really nice racks! I just submitted an order for the 12 gun greystone. I have 11 handguns, they're scattered around on the 3 upper shelves.

Can hardly wait to get organized. It's going to look beautimous!
