7.62x51 load question
Rifle: FAL with 16.5" barrel, gas setting '3' for 1980 South African
Lake City once fired brass 40gr IMR 4895 powder CCI #34 primers Hornady 150gr FMJ boat-tail bullets OAL 2.700" The Lyman reloading manual suggests 40gr 4895 to start. Should I reduce powder by 10% given the Lake City Nato brass, as well as another % for the magnum primer? I am looking for a safe mid range load. That's what I would do.
If you have access to a chronograph, chrony some of the 1980 SA surplus. Then tune your handload to match its velocity.
