Reality !

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...shots-air.html

It makes no sense to have a gun when you don't have any idea of reality. Attacked by two , with deadly weapons , + dogs .Then he shoots in the air ???

Don't count on luck ! If you can't use the gun appropriately then don't have one !

So what's the problem exactly? He doesn't know how to use his gun "appropriately" and shouldn't have one because he didn't kill them? Did the victim survive? Yes. Did he survive because he pulled the gun? Yes. Are the bad guys in jail? Also, yes. While I can't say I wouldn't have shot them, what did he do wrong specifically? The "reality" is that the situation was resolved without bloodshed. Is that the problem?

Not having been there, the shooter might have discharged the shotgun into the air during a struggle for it. If the two attackers were close enough to hit the victim with a bat, the victim might have had a struggle to free the muzzle of the shotgun.
I'd say that having the shotgun saved his life.

Heck, he was just following the advice of our esteemed vice president.
Whatever works.
Since the guys who deserved to be in jail are, and the intended victim survived mostly intact, all is well in the universe.
Not many people learn how to use the stuff they buy, anyway.
If there was an actual requirement to do so, the world would suffer a real economic turn down.
