First Range Trip: Sig P290RS

We finally got out to the range with the wife's new P290RS. We only got 166 rounds through it so I will wait until we get a few more to give a solid feedback report. Only 1 FTF, due to a bad 6 round mag we received, so Sig will be getting a call. But the two 8 rd mags and the other 6 rd were fine. Tough as nails to load at first but they broke in nicely. So here are the first impressions, from the both of us,

Pro's-
- Loved the size and feel
- Easy to acquire sights
- Recoil was amazing for being so small

Con's-
- the only real con we both had, and it's not really one, was getting used to the DAO trigger. It's was smooth as butter and liked the reset, but it took some getting used to coming over from our Striker fired Ruger SR9c. But once we got used to it and adjusted for the difference we loved it.

So far it's a keeper, and after a hundred or so rounds it started settling in and hitting for the most part where we wanted. I'm sure it will take quite a few more rounds to get it fully broken in. Which is why we are headed out again this weekend or first thing next week. Thanks for all the help and advice so far guys.

Well when you do shoot it again, please provide a detailed account.
As I said in another post somewhere, this is a gun I THOUGHT I wanted, until I shot one. As I also said in that other thread, what I shot was the original version of the 290, and not the RS. I hear the RS trigger is much improved, and I sure hope so because what I shot I would never buy....I would buy the Kahr PM9 first for that kinda money.
In the meantime though I have bought a Taurus 709 Slim which in 2 range trips has me MUCH more impressed than I ever thought I would be, both in functionality and accuracy.
But the 290RS is still a gun on my list, but I'm going to have to find an RS to shoot first, to see if it's any better than the non RS.

Sounds like a keeper. Glad you like it. I'm not very fond of DAO triggers, but I'm sure I could adjust. The big reason I bought the P938 was the SAO trigger. I am pretty darn accurate with that thing.

Will do man. I cant compare between the original and RS, but I know the RS was fun to shoot. The trigger had to be "relearned" so to speak for us. But it was a quick adjustment and a very easy shooting pistol.

Thanks man, as of now it is. And unless it just dow right fails, I dont think it will be leaving. We also shot the 938, and liked it alot. The carry condition kinda concerned us, but with training would have not been an issue(Wife's Ex-Military) And to be honest if the 938 had been there it wouls have been a tough call. I stumbled upon the 290RS, never even hearing of it. The fit and feel of it sold us, and we took a chance with the DAO. And the wife was leaning towards an LCR or similar, so it would have been DAO as well. Glad we did take that chance its a great pistol so far.
