Springfield SS mil spec finish question
Hello all,
I recently fit a beavertail on my Stainless mil spec 1911 and as expected the finish where material was removed is different then the standard edges. (fitting a beavertail for the first time is nerve racking to say the least, but it turned out pretty good.) The mil spec has the mirrored sides and the rough grey edges. At least thats how it seems. Now i'm pretty sure i am aware on how to refinish the mirrored sides. However how in the world (if even possible) do you restore the edges of the finish on the frame and slide? I expected it wasn't possible before i started fitting, however i figured i would find out if it was from some people with a whole lot more experience then me. Thanks in advance. FE1911 |

I haven't looked at an SA stainless in a while but typically the matte finishes are done with bead blasting. Another technique is to use Skotchbrite pads to create the matte look.
