What would be the value of a Colt Python, stainless, 6 inch barrel, .357 Magnum in about 98% condition. It's had only 50 rounds fired through it, and has only some wear marks on the barrel from resting/rubbing on the factory case.
The gun shop has $600 on it, is this a fair price?

Tom

Hi Tom,
I'm at work and don't have a book here, but I'd say so. I'm in Richmond and Green Top was getting $599 ten years ago for a blue, 6" Python(FWIW, Hassett's in Waynesboro wanted $849). A few months ago the GT manager said the same gun should bring around $700 now - shot a bunch, but no holster wear.
I'll call 'em and talk 'em down if you tell me where it is. John

$600 is probably reasonable but it is no steal. I would try to dicker a little. Offer $500 cash, no check, no credit card and see if there is a response. Maybe settle for $550.
